Physician scientists bridge the gap between preclinical research and clinical practice. As internist-infectiologists, we diagnose and treat people living with HIV and associated comorbidities including AIDS related illnesses.

Together with fundamental scientists, we translate the most promising HIV cure drugs from preclinical EHEG studies to clinical trials. We ask individuals with HIV in our care to take part in HIV studies and closely monitor clinical outcomes to ensure efficacy and safety of the study procedures and interventions. Curing HIV is part of a broader research line that also includes proactive identification of those at risk for HIV (www.awarehiv.com), destigmatization, and optimizing treatments to stop transmission chains in order to end the HIV pandemic and improve the lives of those with HIV.
