Ex vivo characterization and targeting of the latent infected reservoir to cure HIV. 

When you have HIV you need to take medication for the rest of your life to suppress the virus. This is because the current medication cannot remove HIV from all the cells in the body. When someone with HIV stops taking their medication, HIV can start to replicate from its hiding place, also known as the HIV reservoir. HIV and the HIV reservoir are different in every person. With this project we want to better understand the HIV reservoir and develop treatments to cure HIV.
